Any child can confirm the usual strategy for receiving the perfect Christmas present: sit on Santa’s lap, tell him what you want, and receive the toy of your dreams! For the past six years at The Willcox in Aiken, however, the tables have been turned, and the result is a wonderful Christmas experience for families that otherwise would have to go without. As part of their participation in the Toys for Tots effort, The Willcox hosted families last Wednesday, December 17, asking that children bring a toy for the charity in exchange for an afternoon filled with cookies, hot cocoa, and Santa.

The Toys for Tots coordinator for Aiken County- Lane Parker- estimated that Aiken County will provide 12,000 toys for families in need this holiday season. (Nationwide, the effort produced roughly 40 million toys last year!) Said Parker, “We live in a good community, in terms of generosity, and people are so giving. We don’t want any kid to go without some form of toy or gift for Christmas.”
