Wow, the 2013 Links For Pink Tournament and associated events raised $11,279 for the Savannah River Cancer Foundation! Thank you, members of The Reserve Club! The annual event sponsored by The Reserve Club Women’s Golf Association (RCWGA) had terrific participation again this year. Sixty-eight men and sixty-four women representing the ladies 18 hole and 9 hole organizations along with Green Tee, White Tee and Blue Tee guys all dressed in pink helped to make this a huge success. Our talented committee and cadre of volunteers ensured that everything ran smoothly.
Events during the fundraiser included a Home Decorating Contest along the course. Owners used pink creatively and had many breast cancer themes. Tournament participants voted on their favorite home throughout the day, and the winners were JoAnn Clayton-Reyna and Henry Reyna.
Another owner on the 10th fairway set up a lemonade stand with a menu that included cookies, cupcakes and M&M’s for sale for a donation to the fundraiser.
The silent auction, raffle and honor flags were all tremendously successful and brought in significant contributions toward the total amount raised with this year’s event.
New this year was a tennis tournament organized by Stan Mechanic that provided another venue for non-golfers to participate in the event.
Jamie Turner, Executive Director for Savannah River Cancer Foundation, and Barry Adams, Chairman of the SRCF Board, took time from their day to speak at the opening of the golf tournament and at lunch. They expressed their overwhelming appreciation for the support of The Reserve Club and the services that support will allow to be provided to breast cancer patients in the four counties served by SRCF.
Thanks, again, to The Reserve Club and its members for actively supporting the local community!
