The thriving arts community in Aiken is the cornerstone of the city’s culture. From the visual art galleries scattered throughout Downtown to the numerous performing arts groups such as the ballet and theater shows, Aiken residents are fortunate to have access to the arts year round. The city is the host for several arts festivals throughout the year, including the popular Aiken’s Makin’ which showcases arts from around the area each Fall as well as Juilliard in Aiken each Spring when students and faculty from the esteemed Juilliard school spend a week performing in Aiken. Other popular events include the Gardens of Aiken and the Annual Art Reception. Many of these events feature amazing local talent from right here in our arts community. One such artist is Betsy Wilson Mahoney.
